Meet The Team

Hannes van Zyl is a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with 35 years of industry experience. His journey with the family business began at a young age, assisting his father during his primary school years. By high school, Hannes was already operating the drill independently on weekends and school holidays, often with his friends as assistants. After completing his studies, he officially joined the Van Zyl family business in 1986 as a drill rig operator. His commitment to the company was solidified when he became a member of the Close Corporation in 1989. Hannes is renowned for his hands-on approach, personally building and modifying much of Van Zyl Boorwerke’s equipment. His engineering expertise and innovative mindset have played a crucial role in keeping the business at the cutting edge of the industry.
